David Nash for iPad

David Nash at Kew Gardens was designed alongside the physical exhibition catalogue, to be a premium, coffee table iPad app that brought to life David Nash’s work and life.

As part of his practice, the artist has sought to show the relationships between different sculptures and how thoughts led on one from another in five six-foot tall drawings. Our central piece of interaction was a tour around this diagram with specially recorded interviews with David Nash, which documented his thought processes in detail, in a digitally native form.

David Nash: Family Tree

Such a large, complex image really benefits from the affordances of intuitive panning and zooming, and those listening to David Nash speak could sit back and be given a tour, or seamlessly take charge of their experience and follow their own path.
